NIPPERS TO LEARN FROM THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS
MORE than 120 Gold Coast junior lifesavers will learn from the world’s best when they arrive at Currumbin beach next week to celebrate the 21st Anniversary of Super Surf Camps, an annual twoday surf sports camp for upand-coming Nippers.
The brainchild of Camp Director and Australia’s national youth coach Brett Dowker in 1997, the 2018 Super Surf Camp will have a world champions ring to it.
The camp will feature the Currumbin Vikings’ three current world champions: Matt Davis, Prue Davies and Karlee Nurthen, as well as leading Nutri-Grain ironwoman Amy Nurthen and Kurrawa’s reigning NutriGrain ironwoman champion Brielle Cooper.
A small group of local juniors received a special precamp bonus when victorious Australian team members Davis and Davies arrived to show off their medals and give them a taste of what to expect when they arrive at Currumbin next Thursday and Friday.
“(These camps) really help the development and enjoyment for the young athletes for them to continue on in the future,” said Davis, the only individual Aussie male to win gold in the pool rescue events and a reigning world record-holder.
“The sport has given me so much and so many opportunities; to give back means the world to me.” Register online at www.supersurfcamps.com
