2019 MAGIC MILLIONS

-

ONLY three Gold Coasttrained horses have won the premier race on their home track since the Magic Millions 2YO Classic began in 1987.

The first was the Sally Rogers-trained Snippets who won the inaugural race.

The Gold Coast had to wait another 23 years before Military Rose won for local trainer Gillian Heinrich.

The Toby Edmondstrained filly Houtzen is the only other Gold Coast horse to claim the classic. She came from the outside barrier to claim the race in 2017.

Edmonds is represented by two runners in today’s race, Betaima and Champagne Jet, while Houtzen is in Race 5.

Champion Sydney trainer Chris Waller’s Gold Coast satellite stable has two runners, Krameric and Lubuk, but they are emergencies and unlikely to get a run.
