Chris keen for impact

-

SURFERS Paradise striker Chris Broadfoot has set his sights on the Gold Coast Premier League’s Golden Boot as Apollo look to make amends for their 2018 failings.

Speaking in the latest edition of the Bulletin’s Round Ball Round Up podcast, Broadfoot said he was keen to make a statement in Surfers’ title quest.

The Premier League legend and former Gold coast United A-League striker was lured out of retirement by Apollo coach Alex Morrison at the back end of last season and showed he had not lost his class.

But with a full pre-season under his belt, the 37-year-old believes he can add another dimension to a side that underperformed en route to the preliminary final.

“I do (have goals). I think you have to otherwise you’re just turning up with no real plan,” the former Gold Coast United A-League striker said.

“I think in life you have to have a plan or a goal to try to achieve and mine is to finish winning the Golden Boot this year.

“I don’t know how much I’ll play or how the body holds up but I’ve set the target of 20 goals for myself and hopefully that’s enough to get me as close as possible.

“If we can build a good team and create a lot of chances like we did last year hopefully I can get on the end of them.”
