THE DOMINANCE

Currie is the leading provincial trainer in Australia this season with 84 wins. Chris Waller is next best with 46.

He is the leading overall trainer in Queensland with 113 wins, 16 ahead of Tony Gollan. particular­ly in the metropolit­an area. His past 25 runners have yielded 11 wins (44 per cent strike rate).

THE STRIKE RATE

Currie has won with nine of his past 25 city runners at a strike rate of 36 per cent.

He has won with 11 of his past 31 runners at 35 per cent.

THE CHARGES

Currie has been charged with 28 breaches arising from a raid on his Toowoomba stables in April last year.

Stewards heard 14 of those charges this week and adjourned the matter.

The remaining 14 charges from April last year will be heard in late March.

Currie face two other inquires next month resulting from four alleged positive swabs and seven charges involving alleged use of a jigger and selling a horse that had allegedly bled.

Stewards will not deliver their findings until all charges have been heard which will probably be in late April.

Currie has maintained his innocence and stated he would plead not guilty to all charges.

THE ONLINE WAR

Currie has engaged in debate with what he terms “keyboard warriors” on social media.

He raised the ire of racing officials by referring to himself as “The Gingerbrea­d Man” on social media before deleting the post.
