Ardern to tie the knot

-

NEW Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and her longtime partner are engaged to be married.

Ardern, 38, and television show host Clarke Gayford, 42 (pictured), became engaged over the Easter break, a spokesman for her office confirmed yesterday. They declined to comment further.

Ardern and Gayford met in 2012 and last year had their first child, Neve. Asked earlier this year whether she could consider proposing to Gayford, Ardern told the BBC she wanted to “put him through the pain and torture of having to agonise about that question himself”. POLICE have released shocking vision of the moment thieves shot their way into a local tavern in a horrific armed robbery.

The footage shows three hooded men armed with a machete and a shotgun, enter the Ormeau’s Norfolk Hotel just after 3:30am on April 27 after blasting through the door.

The men can be seen to wave a gun at a staff member behind the bar and force him to the ground.

Police say the men then threatened 23-year-old and 26-year-old employees with the weapons.

The trio demanded money before fleeing the scene with cash in a white 2018 Volkswagen Transporter van, which was stolen in Melbourne.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

Before the robbery the stolen van travelled east along Darlington Dr, Yatala along with a stolen white 2012 Audi A1 sedan with a black roof.

After the raid, the van travelled along Stanmore Rd and Beenleigh Beaudesert Rd before it was dumped and torched on Plunkett Rd, Tamborine, around 4am.

It’s believed the three men then left in the Audi, which was last seen entering an estate on Yarrabilba Dr, Yarrabilba.

The men are described as caucasian and had their faces covered during the incident.

A 27-year-old man was taken into custody over the matter on Tuesday but he was not charged.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who has CCTV or dash-camera vision of the stolen vehicles.
