Weekend Gold Coast Bulletin

HERE’S A BRIGHT SPARK

- BRIANNA MORRIS-GRANT

IF you find yourself at the Spiegeltent this weekend you’re in for a shock in more ways than one.

Australia’s sideshow sensation The Space Cowboy is performing his first show geared towards kids, partnering with mad scientist Professor Patrick Sparks.

With more than four dozen Guinness world records to his name, the Cowboy, real name Chayne Hultgren, said he was looking forward to wowing a younger audience.

“It’s basically proving the science behind some of the world’s wildest stunts, like sword swallowing, high voltage electrical daredevil acts, and blindfolded arrow catching,” he said.

“I’ve always been a fan of Patrick’s and because I’ve been performing with Guinness World Records since 2008, I have a fanbase of young kids.”

Mr Hultgren, originally from Byron Bay, says his finale is a highlight.

“The finale is my high voltage Tesla coil act. I’m the only person in the world who does it. I put one million volts of electricity through my body ... I allow all of it to travel through my blood, flesh and bone. It shoots out my fingertips, the top of my head, streams of electricity up to a metre long.”
