FROM what I’ve gleaned from studying property prices for years, the light rail from Broadbeach to Southport has increased prices significantly along its route. The numbers using it regularly speak for themselves – less cars clogging the city! Can’t imagine a better outing, than walking out my front door on to public transport to take me out and bring me home again safely, with no worries re taxis & Ubers!

I agree with the pram parking debate. I use a walker but am not entitled to a disability sticker. We often are left to park on a slope which causes the locked brake walker to roll away. Also small car spaces being used by large vehicles. I can’t get out of my car so have to park further away.

Pram parking bays close to shopping centre entrances should be banned. A lot of new mums need exercise, and parking in a further away spot provides that. LS

If there is anything to be learned from the kerfuffle surrounding dark ages claims made by the likes of Israel Folau it is that everything he has claimed is based on faith. Faith is of course what we human beings use when we have no good reason to believe something so his comments should really be treated more as a joke than taking them seriously in a modern world. Re overseas calls to your mobile. Yes I too have been harassed by international telemarketing/scammers even though I have been on the ‘do not call register’ for years. I would on average receive 5 calls on my landline a day and about 10 calls per week on my mobile. Telstra advised me there was nothing they could do. One thing you can do is protect your personal information. Every time you sign up for a rewards program or buy a raffle ticket your information is being onsold to database companies and then sold on to these scammers. Often the caller’s number is displayed as an Australian mobile number but I suggest that as soon as you hear the foreign accent and the background noise of a telemarketing office hang up! GB.

Why are we permitting these social engineers masquerading as teachers preventing our children from enjoying their childhood? DB

Mike (Chatroom 2/5) l totally agree. My father had artificial hips & Parkinsons, but no disabled sticker. (“There are people worse off than me, love”) Oh to find a parking spot wide enough to get him in and out of the car. After a car accident he needed a wheely walkerthen wheelchair. He didn’t live long enough for us to get a disabled permit, but l still had to take him to appointments and for social outings. As l’d do laps seeking a suitable parking spot, I despaired to see parking for prams. We have such an ageing population who could well use those closer parking spots! Dave’s daughter

I agree with PRW (GCB 03/05) Labor has never achieved any brilliance in all the years they were in power. Take a look at Whitlam, Hawke, Keating, Rudd, Gillard, Bligh and the two current ones, Shorten and Palaszczuk, all of them in bed with the dopey greenies, and without their preference votes, it would be absolutely impossible for Labor to win any election. KenW.

Geoffrey, I am a dental nurse and would never ever advise anyone to remove all their teeth to avoid toothache. Yes no more toothache, but sore gums from rubbing dentures, food getting caught irritating the gums, can’t bite an apple. Have to cut it into small bits. As the bone in the mouth shrinks without the support of teeth the dentures move around and have to be relined or replaced. More money.

Remember when cleaning dentures, fill the basin with water so if they are dropped it might save them from breaking. If prone to seasickness remember not to vomit over the side of the boat as you may lose your teeth overboard. I’m sure I will think of a few more things after sending this text. Sue

Regardless of your level of belief in climate change the amount of time, focus, energy, conversation and cost around this given the minuscule difference Australia makes is ridiculous. I agree we must better, look after our environment but in real terms not just for the media and political purposes. It is a great distraction though!! Goatie To the young chap driving while playing his harmonica and steering with his elbows, give up the over dedication to your instrument before you have a head-on and kill someone. JT

Cannot see how the artist’s impression of 6 lanes of traffic and 2 light rail tracks are going to fit through the middle of Burleigh. Wazza

When are the traffic police going to stop the construction workers from crossing double lines when they enter and exit the new development on Captain Cook Drive? Accident waiting to happen.

When politicians start telling me what they have done in the last 3 years instead of what they might do in the next 3 to 6 years I will vote for them. Seagull
