WOMEN’S DREAM STARTING FIVE

-

1. Deja Middleton (Seahawks) 2. Susannah Walmsley

(Rollers)

She’s the sort of player you can build a whole team around and with good reason. Middleton has leapt onto the Queensland basketball scene and quickly put her name forward for import of the year honours. She has a strong inside game and her teammates have said they have the confidence to take more optimistic shots because they have confidence she’ll rebound.

She’s a big reason behind the Seahawks’ strong start to the season. Walmsley earnt player-ofthe-game honours in the Seahawks’ most recent match against the Rockhampton Cyclones after a dominant 13point, nine assist and six rebound game.

The WNBL Sydney Uni Flame has brought her experience and talent to a young Rollers side who are better because of it.

Has averaged 13.75 points, 5.5 assists and a team high 6.75 rebounds across the first four games.

3. Emily Allen (Seahawks)

The Seahawks captain continues to lead the way at the nest. She played a big part in the Seahawks’ Round 3 win over the Capitals with 15 points, five rebounds and three assists. The Seahawks junior was a big part of the club’s QBL push and always uses the ball smartly.

4. Jacqueline Luna-Castro (Rollers)

The US import has already proven to be a huge addition to a young side. Castro is leading the Rollers’ pointscoring with a season average of 16.5 a game and is also raking in a handy 6.25 rebounds a game.

She’s also brought some much-needed aggression with the highest personal foul count on the team, including getting into foul trouble in three games so far.

When Ariana Moorer (second import) finally gets clearance to play, it’ll be worth every dollar to see the two.

5. Casey Samuels (Seahawks)

Samuels displayed faith in the Seahawks when she signed on for a second season with the fledgling QBL franchise.

The former Australian youth rep has a stack of experience and talent and will be a big part of the Seahawks’ playoffs push. Had a huge match in Round 2 against the Phoenix with 19 points, including four threes, seven rebounds and seven assists.
