YAPPY HOUR SEAGULLS’ PET PROJECT

- BRIANNA MORRIS-GRANT

THIS will get tails wagging for pet parents and craft beer lovers – Tails and Ales is on again at Seagulls.

Each year the Seagulls Club partners with local breweries to raise funds for Animal Welfare League Queensland.

The breweries have agreed to donate 100 per cent of sales during “Yappy Hour” to the charity, among them Stone & Wood, Byron Brewery and Lost Palms Brewing Co.

Seagulls spokeswoman Aroha Wezner said the event, which is on today from 11am3pm, was a good chance for the venue to connect with the community.

“It gives people an opportunity to bring their furry friends out for lunch and for a special event,” she said.

“Last year we raised $3000. We’ll hopefully make this year bigger and better.”

Also on site are multiple food trucks, pet vendors and an off-leash area.

Staff member Ashlee Thomas, 17, is taking her dog Marley along for the day out.

“I don’t know how long he’ll last. He’s a bit of a whinger. But it’s nice to be able to share your love for animals with everyone,” she said.

“I think he’ll definitely have a good time but whether other dogs will have a good time with him is another question.

“He’s a staffy so he really gets in there and has a play, and although he means well, it’s a bit full on.”
