Tricks and treats in dogs’ day

- AMANDA ROBBEMOND

A NEW Gold Coast dog market will feature more than 50 unique stalls dedicated to man’s best friend.

Rosalie Sulfaro put the call out for Dogs on the Green stalls a few months ago and was swamped with responses.

“I was planning to have 30 to 40 stalls, but I actually have 55 now, including a few food vans,” she said.

“It just kept growing steadily until I closed the applications a few weeks ago.

“I’m expecting about 500 people coming through, conservatively … but on Facebook 1500 people are saying they’re going.”

The markets, which showcase anything to do with pet dogs, will run for the first time tomorrow.

Ms Sulfaro hopes that the event will kick off a regular quarterly market for dogs.

The stalls are set to offer a wide range of doggie items, including doggie beer, aromatherapy for pets, pup-cakes, treats, clothing, collars and leashes, portable toilets and pet photography.

Zoe the Wonder Dog will also be performing her starworthy tricks at 10am.

The markets run from 8.30am to 1pm at Boowaggan Park in Merrimac.
