Weinstein to pay $64m for sex harassment: Report
HARVEY Wein- stein (right) is reported to have agreed to a $64-million settlement with women who have accused him of sexual harassment.
The shamed Hollywood producer, 67, will fork out $44 million in compensation with the remaining $20 million going on legal fees.
But the payout will not affect criminal charges levelled against Weinstein, who will stand trial in New York in September accused of rape and other sex crimes. The money will reportedly come from insurance policies.
If finalised, the deal would also resolve a civil rights lawsuit that accuses the Weinstein Company’s executivess of failing to protect employees. A compensation pot will be split among accusers as well as creditors owed money from Weinstein’s collapsed film studio. The exact number of accusers who will receive payouts is not clear.
