Pipe repair firm plays key role in massive project

-

GOLD Coast-based pipe repair company Nuflow is playing a part in the largest single construction project ever undertaken in Malaysia.

The Ed Ahern-led company is currently working on a job on a 6242-acre petrochemical plant in Johor, which forms part of the $27 billion Pengerang Integrated Complex.

Nuflow was engaged to train staff and oversee initial works late last year for relining over 3500 metres of pipe in the bowels of the petrochemical plant.

The company, which was founded in Canada, uses a lining or “bladder system” that enables broken water pipes to be fixed without the need for digging or destroying existing infrastructure.

It also has franchises in Australasia, Hong Kong, India, Thailand and Singapore.

Nuflow’s onsite trainer Ben Norton said the sheer scale of the job was one of the largest undertaken for Nuflow, and a significant step forward for the company’s international expansion.

“International developers are beginning to see the value of Nuflow’s product, and we are proud to be able to offer our services for small and large projects worldwide,” he said.

“The benefit of Nuflow’s technology is that the job can be completed quickly and efficiently.”

Mr Norton said they are expecting the first phase of the project to be completed by next month.

Nuflow recently quadrupled its production space from 200sq m to 800sq m and increased its production ten-fold.

The company’s product lines are called Redline, Blueline and Greenline, with the latter two a polymer lining, which enables broken water pipes to be fixed without the need for digging or destroying existing infrastructure.

It recently signed a multimillion-dollar contact with Municipal Corporation of

Nuflow was established in Canada in 1998.

Mr Ahern in 2004 inked a deal with the Canadian company to licence its patent, which related to its bladder system, in Australasia. At the same time he drew up an agreement so he could franchise distributors around Australasia.
