INDUSTRIAL EDGE MEETS COASTAL COMFORT
BLENDING different designs can be a risky move when styling a home but it has paid off for a Gold Coast family.
Jen and Rod Anderson have added coastal touches to their luxury industrialstyle Sorrento property, which is on the market with a $1.849 million asking price.
The couple moved into what was a single-level house almost four years ago before undertaking an extensive renovation to make it more comfortable for their large family.
“We’ve got four kids so we needed more bedrooms,” Mrs Anderson said.
“We moved here in 2016 and lived in it a year, then we renovated it.”
They did most of the work themselves to ensure it lived up to the vision they had.
“When you’re doing it yourself, you can stop and start and have a look around at the end of the day and move things,” Mrs Anderson said.
“I didn’t want that sterile industrial look, I wanted that industrial luxury but still really homey.
“It’s got a little slice of our hearts, that’s for sure.”
The six-bedroom residence in Claymore Cres is on an 809sq m waterfront block and spans two levels.
The entertainment deck is a standout feature, with highlights including a kitchen servery and a miniature waterslide into the pool.
There is also a second deck on the waterfront with access to a pontoon.
Mrs Anderson has two favourite spots in the house.
“The kitchen is where we hang because it’s quite open – that’s the life of the home,” she said. “Apart from that, I just love escaping to the master retreat.”
She said it was time for them to sell as it was much too big now their children were starting to move out.
“While it’s been perfect, it’s just too big for us now,” she said.
“It was really our dream family home. We just need to duplicate it smaller.”
