RACE 5 – CLASS 1 (1100m)

Exploration finished out of a place for the first time from his past 11 starts when 10th in a Metro class 1200m 3yo Handicap at the Gold Coast a fortnight ago. Exploration will appreciate a huge drop back in class and, with apprentice Leah Kilner’s 2kg claim and an inside barrier, should figure among the main chances. Pluck Jam is the winner of his only start in a Gold Coast Maiden in September and is resuming. Sugar Zone is also resuming with the blinkers on but has to overcome a wide barrier and Savagold is having his first run back since his debut Ipswich Maiden win in June.

SELECTIONS:

5 Exploration, 1 Pluck Jam, 7 Sugar Zone, 2 Savagold.

RACE 6 – BM75 HCP (1800m)

Glen Ord has won his past two starts over 1800m at the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast and will be hard to beat over the same distance with Taylor Marshall aboard again after steering him to victory at the Sunshine Coast. Bernie’s Tiger is dropping back to provincial class after a ninth in an Eagle Farm 1500m BenchMark 75 Handicap and is a winner over this course and distance. Mill City has been placed at his last two starts at Tamworth and Muswellbrook and Spanish Hurricane scored back-to-back wins at Beaudesert before a ninth in a Doomben midweek Class 6.

SELECTIONS:

2 Glen Ord, 6 Bernie’s Tiger, 9 Mill City, 1 Spanish Hurricane.

RACE 7 – CLASS 2 (1400m)

Buffalo Girl resumed with a last-to-first win in Class 1 company over the same course and distance as today’s contest and the Gold Coast-trained mare will be hard to beat. Stepped In Paint has been placed at her past three starts at the Sunshine Coast and will be given every chance by Daniel Griffin to figure in the prizemoney again. Woolsey was back in the winner’s stall with an allthe-way win in a 1400m Class 1 at Beaudesert and is likely to go forward from a wide gate and Luvdisc is fitter for one run back from a spell with a third in a 1205m Coffs Harbour Class 1.

SELECTIONS:

2 Buffalo Girl, 4 Stepped In Paint, 6 Woolsey, 5 Luvdisc.

RACE 8 – CLASS 2 (1400m)

The Demtel Man is chasing a hat-trick after wins over 1400m in a Gold Coast Maiden and in a Beaudesert Class 1 and has strong claims again. Mr Piquet has a win at Ballina over 1605m before finishing second over 1600m at Gatton and a third in a 1516m Lismore Class 2 at his last three starts. Rest Of The World is fitter for one run back for a third as favourite in a 1200m Doomben Class 1 and betting will be a good guide and Arterial is dropping back in class after a second up sixth in a 1200m Doomben Class 4 on New Year’s Day.

SELECTIONS:

5 The Demtel Man, 3 Mr Piquet, 7 Rest Of The World, 6 Arterial
