Weekend Gold Coast Bulletin

New digs a real bonus

-

A GOLD Coast technology company has taken over some of the swankiest office space on the Gold Coast thanks to the collapse of Members Alliance.

Rightcrowd, a listed developer of physical security, safety and compliance software, is now based on level five of The Rocket building in Robina.

The company, which was founded by former professional basketball player Peter Hill, occupies space with beautiful timber-panelled walls and a slick boardroom (pictured) that would rival some of the ASX’s top listed companies.

Not that it should be construed that Rightcrowd had anything to do with Members Alliance. The company kept a very low profile while it developed its technology, which is used by Microsoft and BHP among other heavy-hitting customers.

It listed in 2017 and its thinly-traded shares are currently priced at 26 cents.

The company’s last quarterly update reported strong growth on the back of extensive investment in research and development as it transitions to what is called “fullscale” commercialisation.

It has added its own touches to the former Members Alliance office, including an image on one wall which merges the various skylines of the cities and countries where Rightcrowd operates. They include Belgium where Rightcrowd has acquired a company formerly known as Ticto.

Investors in that company now own shares in Rightcrowd, which through its new arm known as Presence Control is rolling out a security card which flashes green when staff are where they are supposed to be and red when they are where they’re not allowed.

The Members Alliance Group allegedly sold fraudulent house-and-land packages and collapsed in 2016, owing more than $40 million.

Directors Richard Marlborough, David Domingo and Colin Macvicar were charged in 2018 with the fraud offence “dishonestly causing a financial detriment to persons investing in properties”.
