Ocean’s new 11 a hit with buyers

-

HARRY “High Rise” Triguboff says unit sales at his 76level Ocean tower in Surfers Paradise have averaged close to one a day since November.

Mr Triguboff, who expects to complete the building, on a site between The Esplanade and Surfers Paradise Blvd, in 2022, said moves to reconfigure the floor plans had seen sales surge. The move saw 11 levels, starting at level 34, and previously earmarked for hotel suites, turned into residential apartment floors.

Mr Triguboff said the move, which introduced a number of one-bedroom apartments into Ocean, tapped into strong demand for affordable units.

“We were able to sell apartments from $400,000 upward and people pounced,” he said.

“They were the smart ones – prices have gone up nearly 10 per cent since then and those early buyers are looking great.”

Meriton sales director James Sialepis said Ocean was benefiting from being one of few beachfront off-the-plan options for buyers in Surfers Paradise.

Mr Sialepis said buyers today were more wary than previously.

“The fact that they can see Ocean is actually happening and rapidly climbing skyward gives them the confidence to commit to purchases,” he said.

“Meriton, in more than 50 years as a developer, never has failed to complete a project and that’s proving extremely reassuring to Ocean’s buyers.”

Construction is up to level six and averaging better than an apartment a day. Ocean, which will have 332 hotel suits and 379 residential units, will be the 19th tower built on the Coast by Mr Triguboff’s Meriton group since the 80s.
