TRASH TALK IS A CLASS ABOVE

I’LL PUT HIM ON HIS ASS AND SEND HIM BACK IN CATTLE CLASS

COAST BOXER DEMSEY McKEAN

DEMSEY McKean says his US rival’s verbal pre-fight jabs are nothing but “s*** talk” and vowed to put Jonathan Rice on his “ass before sending him back in cattle class”.

The unbeaten Gold Coaster is as shredded as he has been in years, preparing to go into tonight’s bout at The Star Casino at 110kg.

A chance to enter the top 10 WBO world title contenders is on the line for McKean, currently ranked 13th, and he has left no stone unturned as he pushes towards his goal of getting an audience with world champion Anthony Joshua.

McKean conceded he had previously let the quality of his nutrition slip, often indulging in junk food without care due to his heavyweight status and regularly fighting at 114kg.

He believes it led to his poor health before bouts, even succumbing to illness and being in hospital the day of his win over Patrick Eneanya last September.

“I’m feeling really good,” McKean, 29, said.

“It’s been an awesome preparation and I’m pretty much coming in 100 per cent fit for the first time in a long time. I have really knuckled down with my diet this time and coming in lean. I have been able to maintain the muscle but I’m moving a lot quicker and feeling fast.

“Being a heavyweight I had that tendency to eat whatever I wanted and I have a sweet tooth as well.”

Rice said earlier this week he “flew business class to whoop (McKean’s) ass” but it didn’t faze McKean who had a cheeky barb ready for him.

“I have had a couple of opponents talk s*** in the past,” McKean said.

“I’ll put him on his ass and send him back in cattle class.”

The significance of Saturday’s fight isn’t lost on McKean who knows he is edging closer to the pinnacle of the sport.

“Even making the top 15 was massive,” McKean said.

“I’m the only rated heavyweight in Australia at the moment.”
