Who am I?

I have worked in the transport industry as an Uber driver for three years. From 2016 to 2018, I worked as a sales representative for four businesses within the golfing industry. From 1984 until 2016, I worked for the City of Gold Coast. I started within the parks and gardens section before moving to the pest management section. My last 20 years of employment was with the city laws section, latterly as acting co-ordinator.

I’ve lived on the Gold Coast my entire life and within the suburbs of Division 7 for the past 24 years. Having dealt with community members daily, I understand their essential needs and requirements, which at times conflict with council’s. I want to reestablish the mandate of a local government by providing essential services. We must continue protecting the very things that make living on the Gold Coast great.

Why am I running? WENDY COE Who am I?

A student studying a diploma in event management and volunteering in the community. I ran Rosies Gold Coast branch for almost five years, leading over 200 volunteers to help the homeless and marginalised. I have an associate degree in law from Southern Cross University. Previously I have been a foster parent and a volunteer at a legal centre, an official with Surf Life Saving Queensland, a Parkwood Rotarian and community visitor at Numinbah Correctional Facility.

To continue to serve my community by being the voice of others and implementing ideas to create a better standard of living. I am advocating for the ferry trial to include Labrador and for the area to be seen as a tourist destination for Gold Coasters and visitors.

Security and safety is a priority and I will work to implement measures such as more CCTV cameras, better lighting in parks and on footpaths and more police.

Why am I running?

I

want to help govern our city so people want to stay here and prosper.

Development now is haphazard and misaligned and not made based on long-term suitability. We need instead to provide for a variety of housing and lifestyle options, to make our lives more comfortable and affordable, to conserve limited resources, and to cope with the effects of climate change. We also need to ensure we retain the wonderful natural environment we live in. The economic focus and haphazard approach of our council does not promise a healthy and strong community or a healthy and strong economy.
