YOUR CHANCE TO WIN A SHARE IN A RACEHORSE

-

QTIS Jewel 2YO runner Cosmic Gossip was picked up as a yearling by Aquis last year and the racing and breeding operation could be set to buy another that could reach the same heights for some lucky punters.

Aquis Farm CEO Shane McGrath confirmed about $80,000 would be spent on buying a horse at next week’s Magic Millions March Yearling Sale before six people win a share in its ownership.

The same amount was spent on Cosmic Gossip last year and the filly will race in the $500,000 2YO Jewel today at the Gold Coast Turf Club where the winner will pick up $300,000 in prizemoney for its connections. Master horseman Chris Waller will train the horse and all fees will be covered for the first two years.

“It’s all about trying to bring new people into racing and we are delighted to be involved,” McGrath said.

“We have a great association with the (Gold Coast) Turf Club and Chris Waller trains quite a few horses for us. There is no better trainer in Australia and his client services and his communication will ensure the successful people will get a lovely introduction into racing.

“It will be an education for them as well as hopefully a profitable experience. The reason we have picked this sale is because it’s a QTIS-only sale so there is a breeder there who has produced a filly eligible for bonuses. There are a lot of breeders who work with us and we will find a nice horse.”

The horse will be broken-in and pre-trained at Aquis’s Canungra headquarters, based a short drive from the Gold Coast.
