MEMORIES JUST EGG PEOPLE ON

IF you were watching the Alan Jones show on Sky News last week you may have heard him mention Betty Pratt (now the wife of Mick “Farmer” Veivers). The story centred on the Australian Tennis Open at Milton in 1960 and how a lot of the young Aussie players gravitated to young Betty’s flat. He added as an aside how Betty had managed to ruin boiled eggs. A harsh critique so we rang Betty for a comment. “I saw that and can’t believe he remembered. My little flat didn’t have many utensils in the kitchen but what I did have was an old Birko drink heater so I popped some eggs in to boil them. Obviously, it wasn’t ideal and a few of them split but we still ate them. Just wait until I see him again.”
