CLICK GO THE SHEARS FOR A WORTHY CAUSE

-

THIS weekend is peak shearing season for those who have signed up to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation via The World’s Greatest Shave.

Shaving for a good cause is nothing new as can be seen in this pic from 2003 at Palazzo Versace.

Soheil Abedian is in the chair whispering to wife Anne while moi is having way too much fun with the clippers.

Soheil and Sunland donated a sizeable chunk of money to the cause and foolishly asked a reckless, lefthanded photographer to do her worst.

We like to think that Soheil is saying to Anne: “At the first sign of blood get me out of here”.

A good sport for a very good cause.

AFTER almost a decade listening to the happy sound of champagne corks popping, Archie Cox, account manager for Moët Hennessey, is hanging up his flute (glass).

“For someone who has always loved the industry this has been a dream job. My career has been diverse. I was the final owner of The Playroom, worked for Tyrrell’s Wines and then over time ended up with LVMH.

“My most treasured moment was being seated in Madam Clicquot private quarters in France looking at her prized possessions. Also touring the cellars of Krug and initiating the brands’ success at music festivals and high-profile events.

“I am also very proud of the fact that southeast Queensland drinks, per capita, more champagne than anywhere else in Australia.”

Obviously, we love a very good time on the shriek juice.

Personally, we will miss seeing an involuntary wince cross Archie’s face when someone says Moe. He’s too polite to correct them but we will – Moët has the ‘t’ sound at the end. Now you know.
