THE TAB’S GOLD COAST RACING EXPERT THOMAS ANALYSES SATURDAY’S ACTION

- NICOLE

RACE 6 – MAIDEN PLATE (1400m)

Deal Of Power debuted solidly at this track, running-on from last on the turn. Any improvement on that run and she should be winning. Carrefour showed improvement last start running third at this track over 1200m. Iconically should improve on her first-up run at Newcastle carrying the lightweight. Coulomb has been racing in tougher city races and has fitness on his side.

SELECTIONS:

13 Deal Of Power, 12 Carrefour, 14 Iconically, 6 Coulomb

RACE 7 – BM62 HANDICAP (1000m)

Kingscote was gallant in defeat after a torrid trip here over 900m at his only run last preparation. Tru Blu Tango has a good record when resuming and should be able to find the lead from the inside gate. Bastille Day was strong late when winning his maiden over 800m at Ipswich. Right in this. Deep State ran second at this track resuming last prep and is a contender here again.

SELECTIONS:

5 Kingscote, 3 Tru Blu Tango, 8 Bastille Day, 6 Deep State

RACE 8 – BM0-60 HANDICAP (1800M)

Past Tense was doing his best work late when resuming over 1400m last start and looks hard to beat out to 1800m. Ginja over-raced last start but was still too strong for his rivals when winning his maiden at Ipswich last start. Irish Pardon ran third at his first run in Queensland and can go on with it. Aeecee Sacred has an awkward draw but is coming off a maiden win this track and distance.

SELECTIONS:

4 Past Tense, 2 Ginja, 3 Irish Pardon, 1 Aeecee Sacred

RACE 9 – CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1400M)

Contessa was a convincing maiden winner last start. Liara should find this easier than her last run at Doomben and she was far from disgraced first-up on a rain-affected track. Mandeville Rocker won easily on debut and the locally trained gelding was competitive last start in town. Valley Of Dreams will improve following her first-up run over 1200m at Eagle Farm.

SELECTIONS:

8 Contessa, 4 Liara, 1 Mandeville Rocker, 7 Valley Of Dreams
