PRESTIGE property worth more than $114m changed hands in the last three months in one of the Gold Coast’s most bumper quarters on record.
The astounding figure shows the insatiable appetite for luxury real estate sparked by the pandemic is as strong as ever, with some of Queensland’s most prized waterfront estates snapped up by local and interstate corporate high-fliers.
The Gold Coast’s top sales so far this year ranged from a Great Gatsby-esque mansion at Southport which sold for $25m, to one of the last remaining original beachfront cottages at Main Beach, which went for $7.263m.
Real estate agent Amir Mian, of Amir Prestige, said demand from cashed-up interstate buyers seeking to splash out on high-end Coast homes was overwhelming.
“I’m running out of stock. We are definitely getting even stronger inquiry now for prestige homes, from buyers in Sydney and Melbourne as well as in Adelaide and Western Australia,” said Mr Mian.
Michael Kollosche, of Kollosche, said the market remained buoyant while economic conditions were favourable, prompting owners to increase the list price of their properties accordingly.
“We believe we will continue to see a number of these high-end property transactions if interest rates remain low and the economy remains stable,” he said.
