Making it easy to move house without lifting a finger

WHEN Sarah Knight launched her international relocation agency, she expected to ease time-poor expats back into life at home.

But her clients include local families forced to pack up and move in just weeks, with whirlwind exchanges now common amid the Gold Coast’s frenzied property market.

As the wife of an international pilot, Sarah Knight had moved house 12 times before the family returned to Australia from Hong Kong when COVID hit.

The mum-of-two drew on her unique skill set to launch The Residence GC, which she says is the world’s first service of its kind.

“My clients are very timepoor and don’t want the huge mental load and physical burden of unpacking those boxes on moving day, so we help them transition into their new homes without needing to lift a finger,” Ms Knight said.

“TVs will be wall mounted, artworks hung, beds are made with fresh linen, and their refrigerators stocked with groceries.”

But her services were also in demand by local clients such as Simone Gadd, who faced the daunting task of packing up her four-level family home of 16 years in just three weeks after the property sold overnight, with the buyers demanding a quick settlement.

The family engaged Ms Knight, who “rolled up her sleeves” and co-ordinated every detail of the move, including sorting through generations of belongings and furniture, donating items to charity, selling them, or arranging storage as appropriate.
