RIVERFRONT SPRUCE UP

JET-SKI arrivals, oyster and champagne stations plus a frose bar will be on the menu when a sprawling new waterfront venue opens in Surfers Paradise next month.

Glitter Strip venue giant Artesian Hospitality are ramping up work on Surfers Pavilion, transforming the ex-Helm bar site – a 400sqm Nerang River mooring – into what managing partner Matthew Keegan says will be one of the city’s most iconic venues.

“We are so excited to transform this location into something extremely special,” he said. “It boasts uninterrupted water views, is located right in the heart of Surfers Paradise with the HOPO ferry station and light rail within minutes walking distance.

“It was somewhat crazy to us, given the Gold Coast boating lifestyle, that there wasn’t a waterfront venue that facilitates a large number of boats and jet-ski riders that was publicly accessible. However, we’ll be changing that in a big way.

“Like the pavilions based in Sydney and beyond, the new Surfers Pavilion will be based around a great food and drinks offering in a casual and relaxed atmosphere. This is for our locals and visitors from interstate and beyond – and we are certain they will love Surfers Pavilion,” he said.

Surfers Pavilion will offer traditional pavilion-style dining, including a freshly shucked oyster and champagne station where guests can mingle with chefs.

The deck will feature a dedicated frose (frozen rose wine) bar, the perfect perch for a sunset session watching jet ski riders and boats pull up.

Locally sourced seafood will star on a menu created by Artesian Hospitality group executive chef Michael Dominici, who has presided over kitchens at One & Only Hayman Island and Star Gold Coast.

“We appointed Michael recently as our portfolio of hospitality venues continues to grow,” Mr Keegan said.

Expect fresh prawns, traditional fish and chips and cold and hot seafood platters, alongside burgers, chargrilled striploin and a Pavilion club sandwich.

Artesian Hospitality, one of Australia’s largest hospitality groups, is also behind plans for new rooftop playground Cali Beach Club in Surfers Paradise. It already operates White Rhino, SinCity, Bedroom and Havana.

“We can now add Surfers Pavilion to our extensive hospitality venues and we cannot wait to open next month,” Mr Keegan said.

“We know the locals are going to love Surfers Pavilion.”

Helm closed in September, 2019 after the company behind the business, CB No 5, went into voluntary administration owing money to the tax department, landlord and bank.
