OCEAN HONOUR

COOLANGATTA SLSC and Ocean Grove SLSC member Alistair McCooke has been awarded the Order of Australia Medal as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours for his services to lifesaving.

McCooke (pictured), who joined Ocean Grove SLSC in 1984, was integral in establishing the automatic external defibrillator in surf lifesaving and was named 2004 Australian Surf Life Saver of the Year for this achievement.
