Drug queen runs from cops in Benz

- LEA EMERY

A GOLD Coast drug queen has fronted court again, just a day after she was convicted for refusing to dob in her lawyer.

This time Allira Jade Campbell owned up to driving directly into oncoming traffic on Olsen Ave, Labrador after police tried to stop her black Mercedes Benz about 12.40pm on August 20, 2019.

She originally lied to police about being the driver but was caught out by text messages.

Campbell was on parole at the time for drug trafficking.

When the Burleigh Heads mother sped away from police in August 2019 she was also in the midst of another drug trafficking operation. She was sentenced for that in May this year and is not eligible for parole until January 2031.

Defence lawyer Jason

Grant, of Grant Lawyers, said Campbell would be appealing that 12-year sentence.

Campbell on Friday pleaded guilty in the Southport Magistrates Court to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and evading police.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Manon Barwick said when police tried to stop the car, Campbell crossed two lanes of traffic and drove off at high speed down Olsen Ave, including over a blind crest.

Police tracked down the car’s previous owner who had indicated she sold it to Campbell.

Campbell then tried to lay the blame on someone else.

Sgt Barwick said phone calls and texts police had intercepted in relation to another matter showed Campbell was the driver.

“The intercept was able to identify the plans the parties concocted to have someone else take responsibility.”

Magistrate Joan White sentenced Campbell to six months’ prison and disqualified her from driving for two years. Campbell’s parole eligibility date was not changed.

Campbell was in Brisbane court on Thursday for refusing to divulge information about a lawyer at a Star Chamber hearing with the Crime and Corruption Commission. She refused to answer questions about a driving offence involving a solicitor. That solicitor was not named. It is not Mr Grant.

At the height of Campbell’s drug trafficking operation in 2019 she was selling $57,000 of ice a week, buried kilos of drugs in her backyard and poured drugs down the sink when police raided her property.
