Jailed for killing dog
A BROKEN Hill man was jailed for nine months after being convicted of kicking a dog to death. The 32-year-old was sentenced to prison after the Staffordshire terrier, named Olaf, died while in his care in October.
The dog suffered a cardiac arrest due to either physical trauma from kicks to the chest or extreme stress of being kicked repeatedly.
A magistrate found that no sentence other than full-time prison was appropriate. The man is banned from owning an animal for 10 years.
