SEARCH TO FIND JEWEL IN THE CROWN

-

GIVEN the vagaries of retail, especially in these times, Terry Stephenson has written to ask a question.

“I’m curious if our family jewellery business is the longest established enterprise in Surfers Paradise under the one ownership? We opened two shops in October 1968 – one in Coolangatta (which closed after three years) and the other in the Black Dolphin Arcade, Surfers Paradise. We traded then as Haines & Stephenson Jewellers and are still trading today in the Paradise Centre as H & S Jewellers. The principals and owners these days are Michael and Jason Haines and my daughter Francesca Nott.”

Does anyone else have a claim to the title?
