CORNELL DIES AT 80
AUSTRALIAN businessman, actor, writer, producer and director John Cornell, who produced Paul Hogan’s film Crocodile Dundee, has died at 80.
Cornell died at home in Byron Bay after a 20-year fight with Parkinson’s disease.
A statement from his family said he died on Friday with wife Delvene Delaney and eldest daughter by his side.
Cornell was described as “one of Australia’s leading lights in journalism, television, sport and film”.
He was best known for his collaborations with Hogan – first on The Paul Hogan Show and then with the Crocodile Dundee franchise – as well as helping business mogul Kerry Packer kick off World Series Cricket.
Cornell became Hogan’s manager and they pair created The Paul Hogan Show, appearing as dopey, lifeguard flatmate Strop.
