SWIMMERS TO GO THE DISTANCE FOR AYDEN

- KYLE WISNIEWSKI

FRIENDS, parents and anyone who is happy to jump in the water will be swimming 100km for a seven-year-old Gold Coast boy facing a tough battle.

The Laurie Lawrence Swim School in Burleigh Heads will on Saturday raise money for Ayden Russell, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in May and is in the Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane receiving treatment.

The event will start with Ayden’s mates from the swim school and their parents doing laps during their regular Saturday morning classes before the whole pool opens up to the public from 11.15am to 1pm.

Ayden's mum Bev Russell described the support as “an utmost gift to our family”. “We are grateful to be surrounded by wonderfully caring, kind spirited souls.”
