Tiny home, big price

- VIVA HYDE

A DESIGNER tiny home (above) on a huge block in one of the city’s fastest-growing areas has hit the market.

The custom-designed mini abode at 223 Benowa Rd, Benowa is marketed via Mark Stafford, of Ray White Burleigh Heads, for more than $1.095m. It was built by owner Sammy Habul, an experienced builder who switched years of constructing luxury megahomes to launch Gold Coast Tiny Homes.

The pitched-roof house measures just 30sq m but makes exceptional use of space with a loft bedroom and office. It occupies a fraction of its 876sq m block.

Mr Habul said the couple loved living in the “very cosy, very cute” home for three years and had also planned to build a larger house on the block. A career opportunity will see them relocate to Los Angeles instead.

The Benowa home, which features a slate roof and large glazed windows capturing views to Mt Warning, was Mr Habul’s first foray into the burgeoning tiny home market.

Benowa’s median house price cracked $1m for the first time this year, up from $892,660 to $1.078m in the 12 months to June, CoreLogic data shows.
