REVEL IN CULTURAL DELIGHTS

- KYLE WISNIEWSKI

A GOLD Coast festival will celebrate the city’s multicultural identity on Saturday when global food, music and art hit the streets.

The Varsity World Festival will be held on Varsity Parade, from 4-8pm. Varsity Community Limited spokesman Nic Rone said the street festival was the first event on Varsity Parade since the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We haven’t hosted an event in Varsity for the last two years, so this cultural bonanza is extra special,” he said. “The Coast is a cultural melting pot with 28 per cent of residents born overseas. It will be a great opportunity to get out of the house, enjoy great food and entertainment, celebrate diversity and come together as a community.”

A plethora of cultural experiences will be on offer at the free event with 25 food trucks, Scottish pipes, Japanese drummers, Chinese lion dancers and martial arts fire shows and Spanish guitar. For more information, head to tinyurl.com/rzsau5tw
