Pip Edwards

Creative director, 41

- Fashion editor ANNABEL FALCO

Colour, print and bold silhouettes clash to create the perfect fusion of fashion and comfort in the closet of the P.E Nation cofounder and creative director. With a vintage Vivienne Westwood dress and more than 150 pairs of shoes, it’s no wonder Pip’s wardrobe is the envy of many. A mix of sporting goods (P.E Nation, of course!) and high-end staples ensure this busy mum is on the run in style.

How would you describe your style?

It’s bold! I love to clash. I love colour. I love to play with silhouettes. I love oversized. Always tomboy with a designer edge!

Who are your style icons?

Gilda Ambrosio, Giorgia

Tordini, Emili Sindlev,

Marianne Theodorsen, Lisa Roddy and Jen Ceballos. I find a lot of inspiration scrolling through Instagram.

What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe?

I have a vintage Vivienne Westwood dress from the Pirate Collection. It’s been in my wardrobe going on 17 years! I’ve never worn it and never will but I will keep it forever. It’s fashion history – I keep it for the appreciation of design, fabrication and designers who have gone before me.

What are your favourite brands?

Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Prada and Burberry worn with denim variations – usually Re/done or Ksubi and always with a P.E Nation sport twist!

Have you ever made a style faux pas?

Fashion makes sense in the moment – you feel like you’ve hit a vibe at the time. Then looking back at photos I often think it wasn’t really that good!

What is the most surprising thing in (or about) your wardrobe?

It’s organised and split into two. The first part is my fun/party/print/designer styles – an explosion of colour. The second part is organised into categories, where I keep all the things I style back with the fun stuff.

Three fashion accessories you can’t currently live without?

A chunky gold necklace; sunglasses – they make or break an outfit; hats – all styles for all occasions. I’m also into collecting sarongs at the moment.

Most sentimental item in your wardrobe?

All of my clothes are sentimental to me.

They pinpoint a time and place in my life. I can visually be taken back to what I was doing, where I was and how I felt. It’s really hard for me to cull my wardrobe because I don’t ever want to cull the memories (read between the lines, “hoarder!”).

What would you buy if money no object? Bvlgari Serpenti Viper ring.

How many pairs of shoes do you own? At last count it was north of 150 pairs … (definitely way north of that, eeeek!)

Summer or winter fashion? Summer.

Denim or dresses? Denim.

Heels or sneakers? Sneakers.

Anything you have regretted discarding?

I almost threw out a pair of vintage camo pants – I loved them but the fit wasn’t quite right. Luckily I saw them before I dropped off the bags to Vinnies. A camo print pant should be a staple in every wardrobe.

Favourite fashion era? Right now!
