CONCRETE GEM HITS MARKET

- VIVA HYDE

AN award-winning Tweed Coast property known as the floating concrete home for its dramatic cantilevered design has hit the market.

The Kingscliff property, Pinnacle on Cylinders, was conceptualised by renowned Gold Coast designer, Jayson Pate, and received the Master Builders Northern NSW award in 2019.

Marketing agent Nick Witheriff, of LJ Hooker, said the striking home on a 721sq m block across from the ocean at 12 Cylinders Dr was expected to fetch $6-6.5m.

Mr Witheriff said the home had created a stir, attracting four times the average number of views on www.realestate.com.au in the first week.

In his design notes, Mr Pate said the home’s brutalist-style was inspired by the work of Brazilian architect Marco Kogan.

“The character of the residence is generated by the inclusion of an off-form concrete body that dramatically cantilevers over the underlying living spaces.

“Concrete is utilised throughout the upper volume, creating the illusion of floating atop the delicate glass form below.”

The property occupies a north-east facing corner block, and was designed to maximise privacy while facilitating an outdoor lifestyle to suit its idyllic coastal position.

“The owners absolutely love sitting by the kitchen bench looking out over the pool and the outdoor entertaining area, enjoying the private northern aspect,” Mr Witheriff said.
