The world of caravans
FAMED Gold Coast automotive dealer, Pickering Automotive Group director Maurie Pickering, is placing the cart before the horse with his new venture, Pickering Caravans and Camper Trailers on the Gold Coast.
It showcases some of Australia’s most trusted and established caravan and camper trailer brands including Design RV, Lumberjack Camper Trailers and Coastline RV.
Mr Pickering said his company provides a shopping experience second to none for nomads seeking to hit the open road.
“My vision for Pickering Caravans and Camper Trailers is to satisfy the leisure needs of a community of desperate holidayseekers feeling the pinch of border closures, the uncertainty of returning to overseas travel destinations like Bali, Thailand, etc, or worried about being back in crowded indoor spaces and on planes,” he said.
Mr Pickering said it was time to join the renaissance of nostalgic travel with a classic camping or caravan trip.
“One in three Australians can’t be wrong, after all, right?” he said.
Pickering Caravans and Camper Trailers has opened a 1000sq m showroom at 5 Wrights Place, Arundel.
“The new year has arrived and we are offering no-wait build allocations, on-site service for any brand or manufacturer, and an extensive range of parts plus a wide range of accessories under one roof,” Mr Pickering said.
“Think of us as the BCF of caravans and camper trailers right here on the GC.”
Ready ... Set ... Let’s go caravanning. We have recruited people who are experts in caravans and camping.
Mr Pickering said caravans offered the freedom and flexibility for families to travel wherever they want in Australia – restrictions aside – at a time when interest rates are at historic lows and hospitality businesses around the country are working hard to attract visitors.
“We will make the process of buying, customising, understanding weights, towing, and helping new
and even seasoned caravanners to buy and travel, smarter,” he said.
“Now, it isn’t just about selling to retirees. It has opened a huge leisure market with younger people, predominantly with families, who want the holiday but are not travelling overseas.
“It is a specialised business that means we have recruited people who are experts in caravans and camping and the recreational vehicle industry.
“Our goal is all about personalising your caravan or camper trailer with a configurator which will allow customers to sit in a lounge and look at all the floorplan designs, choose materials and fabrics, kitchen appliances, accessories and so on.
“It’s about personalising the caravan, so the buyer gets exactly what suits them and their families.”
Mr Pickering said he had formed relationships with various Australian suppliers so his business could tailor and offer packages for each caravan, ensuring customers got exactly what they wanted and needed based on their budget or lifestyle.
“We are now looking at local suppliers and camping retailers to join us in having a display to show their products in our showroom,” he said.
The showroom at Pickering Caravans and Camper Trailers is open for sales Monday to Friday, 7.30am-4pm and Saturday, 9am4pm.
