Coomera H.I. v Burleigh

-

BURLEIGH continues to leapfrog rivals on its quest to reach the top four. In the way on Saturday is a Coomera Hope Island team with nothing to lose, everything to gain, and a bit of mystery on its side.

Burleigh hasn’t lost since mid-november, and last weekend knocked off fellow finals hopefuls Runaway Bay, though it was far from convincing. Coomera’s form however has been harder to track, with a win, loss and two draws in its past four outings.

Saturday’s encounter will hopefully help settle some third grade formlines.

KEY WICKET: Matthew Francis (Burleigh)

When you’re averaging more than 100 it’s impossible not to be a key wicket. Francis has hit knocks of 89 and 85 in the past fortnight, to go with his unbeaten 135 before Christmas, and he looks one of the in-form bats in Coast cricket at the moment. Can Coomera get past him?

KEY STAT: 7. Burleigh is unbeaten in the past seven rounds, dating back to a November 20 defeat to competition leaders Surfers Paradise. They’ve had fives wins in that span.
