Elderly man struck, killed by 4WD at servo

ACCESS to a Gold Coast service station was closed on Friday after an elderly man was fatally struck by a 4WD.

Emergency crews were called to the corner of Millaroo Dr and Millennium Circuit at Helensvale just before 1pm.

The tragic incident occurred at the Liberty fuel station in front of bystanders.

Paramedics, including critical care and the High Acuity Response Unit, treated an 87year-old man at the scene.

The man sustained critical injuries, according to Queensland Ambulance.

He died at the scene.

Police closed access to the business as they investigat­ed.

Paramedics transporte­d one person, age 57, understood to be the driver of the vehicle, to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
