LOTZ OF HELP TO DISCOVER RESILIENCE

- ANNE JANELLE DICKMAN

PEOPLE. They matter.

How cool it was to meet someone who enacts this vision through authentic care and support in the workplace – Jodie Lotz.

This water skiing, adrenaline junkie is a head of department at Pacific Pines State High School and she has a heart for putting her people first:

“I was so lucky to have an amazing, positive mentor when I crashed and burned as a student teacher years ago. She made such a difference in my life.

“Early teaching was tough and her belief in me helped me to believe in myself.

“I have always wanted to pay it back so I guess I’ve been able to do this through my leadership role. I learnt through her, that by being positive and finding the strengths in others you can really impact teacher growth.

“I want them to feel valued because they really are. Coaching others doesn’t have to be critical.

“I never thought I would end up in education but I just love it. Every day is different.

“Covid-19 has been such a stretch though. It has drained us as a whole, to be honest, but how awesome to see the resilience and flexibility of both our staff and students.”
