The days of roaring Lamborghinis are numbered... so what’s next?
LAMBORGHINI is set to decarbonise its future models with ‘Direzione Cor Tauri’. This new environmentallysustainable route represents the heart of the bull, and depicts a new and electrified future that still remains faithful to the brand.
The process to electric cars will prioritise technologies and solutions which offer the performance and driving dynamics that Lamborghini is known for.
Chairman and chief executive of Automobili Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann, said Direzione Cor Tauri was a welcome change of course for the brand.
“Lamborghini’s electrification plan is a change of course that was made necessary by a radically changed context,” he said.
“We want to give our contribution by continuing to reduce environmental impact with tangible projects.”
Direzione Cor Tauri consists of three phases:
Don’t miss out on grabbing one of Lamborghini’s last pure gas-powered supercars
• Celebration of the internal combustion engine (2021-2022)
The first step will develop internal combustion engines for models which reflect the brand’s history.
• Hybrid transition (by the end of 2024)
The first hybrid model will be launched in 2023, with the entire range to be electric by the end of 2024.
This stage pursues the target of
reducing CO2 emissions by 50 per cent, starting from the beginning of 2025. It will guide the recordbreaking hybrid transition of more than €1.5 billion to be allocated in four years.
• First full-electric Lamborghini (second half of the decade)
A fourth and fully-electric model will guarantee extraordinary performance, and offer a new product in the electrified segment, Mr Winkelmann said.
The Lamborghini program is inspired by a holistic vision of the company’s sustainability strategy.
This full-scale approach begins at the Sant’agata Bolognese site and spans from production lines to offices, with continued focus on quality of performance and the genuine driving experience.
The Direzione Cor Tauri transformation will integrate with the brand’s DNA, and turn challenges into opportunities with the development of ecological products and processes.
