IN a story this week about arts funding, Southport councillor Brooke Patterson – appointed recently as an observer on the cultural precinct’s board – was quoted saying the Coast was not receiving similar amounts of federal funding in the arts compared to other cities.

The quote by her should have included the words “per capita”.

“It is stark, it is shocking,” she said, remarking about the difference in funding per capita for Sydney and Melbourne.
