Binna Burra project back on market
LAND at Binna Burra on which a major housing and tourism project adjoining the Lamington National Park was unveiled in 2006, is back on the market and wearing a new name.
The project, originally called The Ridge at Binna Burra, was to be developed as a $40 million eco village.
The proponents, former Couran Cove general manager Alastair Mccracken and Outward Bound figure Tim Medhurst, sought a partner to undertake the development.
The 89ha property, which can take 200 titles, was sold for $6.2 million in 2007.
Owner Binna Burra Management, owned by Brisbane residents Wayne Harris and Peter Evans, is seeking expressions of interest in the former dairying property, tagged The Village at Binna Burra.
Mark Witheriff, CBRE Gold Coast head, said the land was on a beautiful piece of the escarpment and offered the chance to create a special rural retreat.
“We expect it will generate significant interest from property developers, lifestyle buyers, environmental groups and the eco-tourism industry.”
The Ridge was to be a group-title development and include 100 apartments, cabins and homes, permaculture food gardens, and orchards.
It was to also have swimming pools, Japanese baths, a wellness centre, and 11km of rainforest walking trails.
The land comprises 12ha of approved development land and 76ha of rainforest and is accessed off Binna Burra Rd and Timbarra and Akoonah drives.
Mr Witheriff is marketing the property in tandem with CBRE’S Daniel Doran and Alex Mcmahon, of AJ Mac Strategic Solutions, as transaction adviser for the sellers.
