What time do you wake up on a Saturday?

I wake up when the kids (Millie, 10, and Teddy, 3) get up, which can be between 5am and 7am. I don’t get to wake up with the kids five days a week, so the weekends are about them sneaking in to find Mum in bed and jump into bed with me for what we call a snuggle. Sometimes we stay in bed and watch an early-morning movie together, that’s before one of them inevitably gets hungry and then it’s up for a loud messy breakfast.

Best place to go with kids?

Any of the Coast’s “worlds”, we are so lucky to have the theme parks about a 15-minute drive from my house (in Ashmore). If it’s a hot day we spend it at Wet’n’wild, or cuddling animals at Paradise Country, or seeing if we are finally tall enough for the big rides at Movie World.

Favourite park?

Teddy has just gotten old enough to endure some bush walks, so our favourite parks are anything with a nature walk – essentially our national parks. We love nearby Natural Bridge.

Local coffee haunt?

Double Barrel in Benowa. Amazing food, indoor/outdoor dining, lovely view on the water, close to home, and it’s a bar at night.

Best spot for date night?

Nineteen at The Star would be it for me. They have lovely booths so you can be cosy and intimate. The view is epic and the service is special. Everything on the menu is perfection also, especially the risotto.

Favourite takeaway?

Guzman y Gomez.

Where and when do you exercise?

I have a trainer Karyn Windle and she has been training me for two years and totally transformed me slowly and surely. We train once or twice a week with weights at her gym. I also exercise at home – I find fun workouts on Youtube and I walk the dog or run or scooter after my son while he rides his bike.

Best hidden treasure in Queensland?

Our beaches every time.

Favourite place to holiday in Queensland?

I recently went to Hamilton Island for the first time with my family and I adored every single second there. But my regular holiday is at Rainbow Bay in Coolangatta – my family have been going there for three generations.

What’s your idea of the perfect Saturday?

I’m a bit of a homebody and love to potter around home and the neighbourhood. I’m just as happy cleaning and reorganising a cupboard in the morning and chilling watching movies with the kids in the afternoon. Or we have a fun day at the beach followed by a cheese platter at home with friends and all the kids running around or in the pool, maybe with a bit of late night dancing in the kitchen to finish it off.
