Michael Clarke

40, Sydney, former Australian cricket captain / Sky Sports Radio presenter

- Fashion editor ANNABEL FALCO annabelfalco

As a fashion editor and selfproclaimed “girly girl”, I never thought I would have much in common with the talented Michael Clarke. But any man who lists Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga and Off-white as their favourite brands is definitely someone I can relate to.

A champion of the sport-luxe trend, Clarke’s wardrobe is a stylish treat where neutral basics, designer suits, statement sunglasses and “baggy greens” result in a sleek and winning look.

Listing David Beckham as a style icon (my pick for best-dressed male celebrity too), there is no doubt The Big Sports Breakfast host will continue to dominate best-dressed lists.

How would you describe your personal style?

Always sporty/designer with sport labels. Love oversize.

Who are your style icons?

David Beckham – I like the way he’s transformed from a sports star to a fashion icon – love his vibe.

What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe? It would have to be a pair of denim jeans. I’m certain I have an old pair of Nudie jeans in there somewhere.

What are your favourite brands?

Louis Viutton, Balenciaga, Off-white.

Have you ever made a style faux pas?

I’m sure I’ve made plenty, some of my sunglasses choices have been horrific.

What’s the most you have spent on an outfit?

I bought a LV suit – it was approximately $3000.

What is the most surprising thing in (or about) your wardrobe?

It’s very black, white and grey. But I’m just starting to introduce some colour.

Top three wardrobe must haves?

Hublot watch, Off-white trainers, Balenciaga tee.

What is the most sentimental item in your wardrobe? Baggy green.

What would you buy if money was no object?

Another Hublot watch.

Summer or winter fashion?

100 per cent summer.

Denim or Suits?

Suits.

Loafers or sneakers? Sneakers.

Is there anything in your wardrobe you have regretted throwing out?

Not that I can think of.

How many pairs of shoes do you own? I’ve never counted but assuming somewhere around 100.

Favourite fashion era?

Now. The sport trend has become acceptable everywhere.
