Thyroid cancer up
MORTALITY and disability as a result of thyroid cancer is still rising in Australia, according to international researchers.
The team tracked thyroid cancer rates, mortality rates and the amount of years affected by thyroid cancer-related disability across 16 European countries, the US, Australia and Canada from 1990 to 2019.
The researchers say while the overall rate of thyroid cancer increased in 13 of the 19 countries, Australia, the US and Denmark were the only countries where mortality and disability-affected years increased across that time.
In Australia, they say the annual increase in mortality was 0.6 per cent.
