Battle on for Newmarket

The country’s premier handicap sprint, the $1.5m Newmarket Handicap, is set to be an epic contest with a field of 17 set to battle down the Flemington 1200m straight. Three-year-old colt Home Affairs has been the favourite since his win in the Lightning Stakes at the same track. Masked Crusader (fifth), Swat’s That (fourth) and The Astrologist (seventh) also come out of the Lightning. Lost And Running comes down from Sydney and will push Home Affairs for favouritism. Last year’s Newmarket winner is a $51 chance to go back-to-back.
