Brekkie club dines on $5000 gift

-

THERE will be no tiny tummies grumbling at Pimpama State Primary College thanks to a donation to its breakfast club.

The Gold Coast Community Fund presented the school’s P&C with a $5000 cheque on Friday – enough to keep the initiative running for the next six months.

Principal Dave Hartley said the before-school breakfast club started as a trial in late 2021 with the support of volunteers from the Gold Coast Highway Church.

“The Pimpama-ormeau Bendigo Bank and the Gold Coast Community Fund have stepped up and demonstrated their generous support in providing sponsorship, ensuring this vital program continues to run for the next 12 months and beyond,” he said.

“Each morning more than 120 students access a free breakfast consisting of fresh fruit, toast and cereal, ensuring stomachs are full and minds are switched on to learn. Student engagement in the morning sessions has improved dramatically and socially our students are thriving from eating together, using manners and cleaning up after themselves.

“The school climate has never been warmer.”

Gold Coast Community Fund chairman Rutland Smith said the group was delighted to help.

“It was wonderful to see the amazing work being undertaken by the committed team at Pimpama State Primary College,” he said.
