Weekend Gold Coast Bulletin

BRIDGE TO A GREAT NEW CHAPTER

-

BRIDGET Brousard is alive and very well.

The effervescent and hugely popular Triple M breakfast

announcer shocked her listeners and friends by announcing that she was leaving radio at the end of last year. Now, with husband Jamie, she is working towards her dream existence of building a B’N’B on Flinders Island in Bass Strait.

“I loved radio and the people, but my health was suffering and the doctor said the best way to get better is to stop,” rd

said Bridge. “It was a weird life. Very early starts, you have to be ‘on’ all the time and then as soon as one broadcast is finished you are thinking about the next one. You get graded daily by ratings and feedback and after 21 years, 15 on the Gold Coast, it was time.”

Speaking from Flinders Island she was buzzing about her new life: “It took me a few weeks to de-stress but we are having a blast. We spent the first two months in a tent but have just moved into a big blue bus that we converted to live in until we get things built.

“This is luxury because we now have running hot water and a king-size bed. The population is 900, people are so laid back and lovely, and the 360degree views on top of a mountain are amazing.

“We sold everything and now own 500 acres plus some machinery. We also have two dogs, one of which is special needs and requires daily Viagra tablets to keep him functioning. The chemist must think we are the rootin’ hillbillies,” she laughed.

“I pinch myself that I am here, but I had to make that change because too many times I would sit in my car and cry because I was so wrung out.

“I do miss everyone but I am at peace.”
