Drive ban for young Titans star

- GREG STOLZ, TRAVIS MEYN

GOLD Coast Titans young gun Tom Weaver has been banned from the road for six months and fined $900 after pleading guilty to high-range drink-driving.

Weaver, 19, a product of the famed Palm Beach Currumbin high school rugby league nursery, joined the Titans this season and is seen as the club’s next playmaking talent.

But his career has suffered an early setback after he pleaded guilty in Southport Magistrates Court on Friday to driving with a blood-alcohol concentration of .171 per cent.

The court heard that as a Pplater, he was meant to have no alcohol in his system.

Weaver (pictured) was busted by police about 2.40am on Elkhorn Ave in Surfers Paradise on March 6 after they noticed he was stopped at green traffic lights with his hazard lights on.

Police observed he had bloodshot eyes and appeared to be under the influence which was confirmed by his reading, the court was told.
