More jobs than ever
JOB vacancies are reaching record highs through the pandemic, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
There were 423,000 vacancies in February – 27,000 more than November 2021 and about 200,000 more than February 2020.
The industries with the biggest growth have been accommodation and food services (213 per cent), arts and recreation services (211 per cent), and rental, hiring and real estate services (191 per cent) – all customer-facing jobs.
“Vacancies were much higher than before the pandemic, with many continuing to report difficulties in filling their vacancies,” the ABS’S Bjorn Jarvis said.
